Problem Program Addresses:
During the 14 years Ukraine has been independent, no major improvements have taken place in the organization of health services, mostly due to the lack of public funding. On the part of the state, there are no guarantees concerning rendering free-of-charge medical aid. Due to the lack of funding, a major part of old medical equipment which should be replaced is still in use. In many settlements in the countryside, especially in the remote places, there are no medical ambulance stations where it would be possible to receive the first aid. A high level of the diseases of the population is related to smoking and alcohol abuse, especially among children and young people. Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS are also spreading.
Purpose:
Increased awareness and knowledge about pregnancy and family planning among youth and poor families. Improved access to qualified medical services for vulnerable people from Lutsk and Volyn region. Improved prevention of infectious diseases and increased access to quality health care. Children living with disabilities improved their possibilities to attend activities.

Health education on HIV/AIDS, pregnancy and family planning in schools, financial support for women and their babies for medical examinations and treatment, training pregnant women and young families about pregnancy, mother and child relations, family planning and hygiene, training of target groups on their rights, clinic repair, mobile clinic trips to villages in the region, psycho-social care and health care for people living with HIV/AIDS, producing educational materials, medical treatment and daycare program for disabled children and meetings for their parents organized. |
