Achievements Until Now:
40 farmer groups have been formed with various income generating activities. The beneficiaries have formed a savings and credit cooperative society with a membership base of 260 members. The community's knowledge and skill on entrepreneurship is increasing. This is reflected in increasing small-scale businesses such as zero-grazing that has boosted beneficiaries' incomes and household nutritional status. Awareness on the issue of gender is creating a sense of shared responsibility between men/women. Women are getting more involved in decision-making. Awareness on HIV/AIDS has improved. As a result of lobby and advocacy, the local government is getting more involved in providing community services to the beneficiaries. Consequently, health centers, roads and schools in the project area have been improved.

Target Group:  
The beneficiaries constitute of 18,000 people in 9 villages. These are mainly subsistence farmers.  

Problem Program Addresses:
Problems ranging from low incomes, food insecurity, poor animal health, gender imbalances, HIV/AIDS to poor provision of services from the government.

Purpose:
To empower people to alleviate poverty and build their capacity to undertake activities that will improve their quality of life.

Main Activities:
Promotion of income generating activities (beekeeping, fish farming, horticulture, formation of savings and credit societies). Improvement of animal health (disease control, vaccination, construction of cattle dips). Improvement of local breeds by use of artificial insemination and herd selection. Disease diagnosis through improved laboratory services. Promotion of gender equity through awareness creation and community dialogue.
