Achievements Until Now:
Almost 400 children are supported annually. They have been offered material, emotional and educational support.
Target Group:
The program targets children at risk (orphans, street children, those coming from poor and dysfunctional families, neglected or abandoned children).
Problem Program Addresses:
Those who suffer most of all as a result of the severe economic crisis in Moldova are the children. Often one parent or sometimes both go abroad for work, leaving behind their children. As a result these children are often poorly cared for, either by their temporary guardian or in the institution they are put in. There are many families in which the parents are addicted to alcohol. Children in such families often face domestic violence. Very often these children do not get enough nutritious food and skip school.
Purpose:
To improve the material, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the children at risk. The project aims to improve the life conditions of these extreme poor children.
Main Activities:
The beneficiaries visit day care centres, where different activities are organized. The children receive meals or food parcels. Some children may take a shower and are helped with clean clothes. The beneficiaries are helped with school assignments so that they do better at school. There are different interest groups, where children learn new skills (like handicrafts, English classes, computer classes). The children are visited at home too during the school year where there is contact with their parent(s). During summer time the children are invited for summer camps.
