Achievements Until Now:
Sponsored children receive home visits by field staff and a social worker. Children are enrolled in local schools and DAI assists by paying school fees; providing school material and uniforms/shoes. The program also addresses food insecurity in the area.
Target Group:
Orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) whose parents lack sufficient income. The project set selection criteria.
Problem Program Addresses:
The lack of care facilities for OVCs, the vulnerability of OVCs for serious illnesses, lack of shelter, financial and economic problems, inadequate food and nutrition, drop-outs at school, emotional insecurity and sexual exploitation.
Purpose:
To improve the well-being and prospects of vulnerable and poor children.
Main Activities:
Home visits, monthly food distributions and improved nutrition, monthly collective meetings for training, encouragement and Bible study, life skills trainings, performing dramas, HIV/AIDS prevention training, counseling and discussions of school results, conservation farming training and production, tree planting.
