Achievements Until Now:
Access to medical care such as antenatal care, outpatients department, HIV testing and counseling and adherence counseling for the target group. Community health workers educate the community on topics such as HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support; young children receive food, supplements and free medical care; pregnant and lactating mothers were educated on HIV/AIDS, received education on PMTCT; patients received multi-vitamins; vulnerable children received food supplements and multi-vitamins.
Target Group:
People living with HIV/AIDS, teenage mothers, orphans and vulnerable children, young children (under 5 years), lactating mothers.
Problem Program Addresses:
The high HIV/AIDS prevalence in Lesotho and the impact this has on all layers of the society.
Purpose:
Improved standard of living for adults (including unwed mothers) and children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Main Activities:
Food and supplements for orphans, vulnerable children and underweight young children; pregnant mothers stimulated to be tested for HIV; train community health workers who train the community on HIV/AIDS related issues, provide psycho-social support and home based care.
