Achievements Until Now:
Around 1000 sponsored children were able to access quality education as well as vocational training. The basic needs of the sponsored children have been met through the provision of school fees, food, medical care. The children are also given life skills training, which includes for example a training on HIV/AIDS prevention. Children's parents or guardians have been given training and counseling on family planning, nutrition, good parenthood skills and entrepreneur skills. As a result, some of the parents have started small-scale income generating activities.

Target Group:
Orphans and vulnerable children whose parents do not have sufficient income to send their children to school. The projects set selection criteria for this.

Problem Program Addresses:
Child Care and Development sector in Kenya is addressing the inability of parents/guardians from poor and vulnerable households to enroll their children, especially the girls, in school. The reason for this ranges from the lack of economic resources; cultural factors; early pregnancies to lack of parental guidance. DAI enables these children to pay their school and tuition fees, have access to school materials (books, pens) and medical care. In addition, the children are counseled on a continuous basis.

Purpose:
To improve the well-being and prospects of vulnerable and poor children.

Main Activities:
School and tuition fee is paid to enable children stay in school. Parents/guardians also pay a percentage of the school fees. Sponsored children are also provided with food and learning materials. Life skills trainings are given to all the children during Saturday club. Social workers/counselors visit the families and have counseling sessions with the child. Some parents/guardians are part of the parent committee and come with ideas to improve the projects.
