Achievements Until Now:
Roma women have received medical services. They were tested on HIV/AIDS, got doctors' appointments and medical counselling, and gynaecological medical check-ups. Further they received workshops on health, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, avoiding violence in the family, human rights and they were supported to find a job.

200 Roma women
Problem Program Addresses:
Roma women are the most uneducated and vulnerable women in Bosnia. Due to lack of knowledge many under-aged women are set for arranged marriages, and are physically and/or mentally abused. This situation has a negative impact on the lives of these women. In addition, they are living in bad material circumstances. Because of lack of education, Roma women are often unaware of the changes she can make to her own life.
Purpose:
Improved access to quality health care, better schooling preconditions, improved housing, increased job opportunities, knowledge level and psycho-physical condition of Roma woman. The program contributes to this by improving the prevention of infectious diseases and general well-being of 200 Roma and marginalized woman in Kakanj.
Main Activities:
Awareness creation about HIV/AIDS, organize workshops about family violence and prostitution, gynaecological investigations, courses and additional education, CV-writing support, creative and educative workshops against discrimination of Roma population, undertaking efforts to receive greater government support for the target group. |
