Achievements Until Now:
More than 1,000 loans have been disbursed in poor villages in Menia to start income generating activities and beneficiaries are paying back their loans as scheduled. Trainings and motivational seminars are given every year. Approximately 200 people every year start their own micro business. Garbage collectors of Ard el Lewa are trained to spread awareness among the rich families in Zamalek and Mohandeseen about the importance of sorting out the garbage into components. 180 beneficiaries are trained on either of 4 vocations to increase their liability to find employment opportunities as a result of acquiring vocations and skills
Target Groups:
Poor families with disabled or sick members, female headed households, or large poor families.
Problem Program Addresses:
Unemployment, fluctuating and inadequate financial income that render meeting of the family's basic needs hard to attain.
Purpose:
To train and provide small credits to poor families in Menia so they can start their own income generating activity and create a sustainable livelihood. Improved health and economic conditions for garbage collectors community in Ard El Lewa.
Main Activities:
Prepare feasibility studies on potential income generating activities that suit the local economy, culture and environment. Conduct training sessions on business skills and on the loans system mechanism. Provide vocational training when needed. Monitor and maintain a sustainable and appropriate micro finance system and ensure acceptable repayment rate and break-even point. Train beneficiaries on micro finance management and marketing skills. Introduce tetra pack project to the community. Provide a Health Awareness Program. Conduct Garbage Sorting awareness Campaigns.
