Achievements Until Now:
340 Roma and Gipsy children involved are attending school. 30 children have participated in social events. 5 children have received medical care.
Target Group:
Children (beneficiaries) from Gipsy and Roma community aged 6-13 years old. Children who manifest socio-economic and institutional exclusion. Children from families that have limited formal employment opportunities, unemployment or under-employment.
Problem Program Addresses:
Marginalized Roma/Gipsy community is living in poverty and segregation, lack access to education, lack access to basic health and is facing social risks and vulnerability.
Purpose:
Marginalized & disadvantaged Roma and Gipsy children are socially integrated through education and social assistance.
Main Activities:
Identification and registration of 45 children at primary/secondary schools. Provide one warm meal in one facility centre for targeted children after school attendance. Provide free school books and educational materials to facilitate the process of learning to 45 children. Monitor children's progress through homework assistance and integrated learning methodologies by 2 professional teachers (Monday to Friday). Support to 45 targeted children at 1 facilitation centre in tackling gender/anti-racial discrimination based issues. Involve 45 children in social activities, birthday celebration, games and other leisurely events. Other medical intervention according to the children's needs. Teach children on the matters of hygiene, water and sanitation on a regular basis. Encourage children to do voluntary work in cleaning up their homes, their school surroundings and in their close neighbourhoods.
