Party For Special Needs Children

Toddlers from the AFM Special Needs Home in Kempton Park were given an early Christmas party by a caring group of volunteers. The volunteers who represent a weekly Bible study group decided to put their faith into action so that these less privileged toddlers could experience some extra love and care.

The toddlers' enjoyed snacks and each received a present. It's not often that these children can venture outside as most of them require 24 hour nursing care. All of the toddlers' are in some way, either disabled, orphaned, abused or are HIV positive. Heleen Haasbroek who manages the home felt that this Christmas party made a huge difference in the toddlers' lives. She says, "We are so busy with daily routines to ensure that the children receive the best possible care that we are not always able to add that extra special touch to their lives. However when caring people such as these volunteers visit for a short period, they are able to offer something special and different to their lives."

Children are amongst the most vulnerable people in society and many are exposed to various forms of abuse or are affected by HIV/AIDS due to the loss of their parents. It's for this reason that Dorcas Aid supports this project and a number of other Child Care projects that care for needy children.
