Lesobeng Outreach

Dorcas Aid, the Lesobeng Evanglical committee (LEC) and the Boksburg Baptist joined hands to reach out to children in the Lesobeng area. Lesobeng is situated 8 hours drive from the capital Maseru. The area is remote & can only be accessed by 4 wheel drive in the summer months. During winter it becomes a high risk road to travel on due to the high possibility of being closed in by sudden snow falls.

The purpose of the outreach was for Boksburg Baptist to support Dorcas Aid and the LEC to train school children on the dangers of HIV/AIDS. Over two days 5 schools were visited and over 700 children were exposed to HIV. Films were shown and interactive sessions conducted with the children concerning peer pressure, the importance of school, the dangers of casual sex and a living relationship with Jesus Christ. The sessions were meaningful to the children and we believe that with the support of the school programmes they have enough information to make wise decisions for their lives.
