Greenhouse project Transcarpathia (Ukraine) The Transcarpathia region is located in western Ukraine. The area is about 12.800 square kilometres.
Both the country and the regions are in a complex demographic situation. Due to bad infrastructure and organized market systems profitable farming is difficult.
This Greenhouse project started in 2008 and is assisting 71 families in improving their income level due to a micro credit.
At the start it was difficult to find suitable families who were willing and able to participate. A lot were afraid to fail. With the help and motivation of our local partner Terra Dei, farmers have been challenged and assisted to start their own business. And with success! The key factor is dealing with new farming methods such as working with greenhouses and the use of heating systems. The living standard of the 71 families is improving considerably!
After one year of grace, farmers start to pay back the loan.
Do you want to help us supporting this project? A loan to start a farm is 3.500 euros. In 2011 we need 38.000 euros to execute this project.
